so i was so excited when i published my first story
i spent 10 years writing this story
in a month and half ive sold 10 copies
i jokingly told everyone i would be happy if i sold enough to buy someone elses book or a cup of coffee
and that would be fine if i had made enough at anyone place to actually get paid but the way it is now i dont have enough at any sale point to have them cut me a check.
i figured that some of my fanfiction readers might buy but nope
im just whining again
its still just you two so ignore me again
You cannot expect to gain a large following overnight. It is hard to be heard, I have had my original blog for almost two years and only have sixteen followers. I admit I stopped writing on it for awhile, actually was just going to give it up but then realized I just had to keep pushing. I still don't post on a regular basis, it was suppose to be a daily blog but my life is too boring and I found myself complaining a lot. No one really wants to read that unless you can spruce it up a little, maybe make it comical. On a side note, my life is busy and I share a computer with my family thus my allotted time to browse is minute. I don't know about your other follower but life is a busy thing and people make time when they can. I get to browse the blogs I follow when I get a chance. In no way do I intentionally ignore people. One thing I am sure of, if you plan to gain followers, being rude is no way to attract them. Btw, how many blogs do you follow? Have you asked to be followed back? The best way to gain support is to give support to others. You get nowhere if you are always saying me and I.
ReplyDeletesorry darling i didnt mean writing the blog sucks ass i mean writing and publishing in general sucks ass. i published my book a month and half ago and have 12 sales. very disheartening and irritating.
ReplyDeletebasically ive been told you cant think outside the box the box is it and the box is naked sluts and body parts or daddy in the title i have none of the above so of course its not selling
so now i am looking at stock photos for naked women and thinking of changing the name to can you feel me...i prefer the awesome picture my friend who is an award winning photographer took and the name second door on the right but hey what the hell do i know i just wrote it
If you feel that the picture (your cover) and title are what they should be, then leave them as they are (my opinion). I honestly don't remember how I found your blog, maybe twitter? So, forgive me if you already know this. Do you have a facebook page? If so, are you aware of WoMen's Literary Cafe? In the notes section there is a #Sharethelove4authors page, it is a place for authors supporting authors. You share your facebook page and twitter account and you get "Liked" and followed, you also have to "Like" and follow those on the list. It will allow more people to acknowledge you book and may increase your sales. I would buy a copy but I literally have no money at the moment and only have food and a roof over my head because I babysit my autistic nephew. I currently know nothing about publishing and selling but what I have heard about it is that you just have to keep putting what you have out there. Network with people, lots of people, on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace or whatever you use. It's just a matter of getting the word out to as many people as possible, easier said than done as most things are. One day, I'll probably be in your shoes and will understand your situation better. As of now, I can only offer information I've read or heard. For the record, I think outside the box is better :-)
